Summarize
Fecoxib is an important non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for animal use. Its main effect is to selectively inhibit the synthesis of COX-2 mediated prostaglandin, so as to block the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandin, and then produce antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Compared with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory veterinary drugs, felocoxib can efficiently and selectively inhibit COX-2, and can be quickly absorbed by the body, and has a significant effect on relieving osteoarthritis pain.
Biological activity
Firocoxib(ML1785713) is a potent, selective, orally active COX-2 inhibitor with an IC50 of 0.13μM. Firocoxib is 58 times more selective to COX-2 than to COX-1 (IC50 is 7.5μM). Firocoxib has anti-inflammatory properties.
Pharmacodynamics
Firocoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that exerts antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) -mediated prostaglandin synthesis. In whole blood tests in dogs in vitro, the selectivity of felocoxib to COX-2 was about 380 times that of COX-1.
