Fluralaner (INN) is a systemic insecticide and acaricide that works by effectively blocking GABA and L-glutamate chloride channels.

Fluralaner effectively inhibits the reproductive ability of fleas in vitro. At concentrations as low as 25.0 ng/mL, spawning ceased completely. Although no ovicidal effect was observed, fluralaner exerted larvicidal effects at very low concentrations (6.25 ng/mL).

In a simulated flea infested home setting, flea control efficacy in fluralaner-treated dogs was > 99% at each time point at 12 weeks of measurement. No adverse events were observed in fluralaner-treated dogs. Even at sub-insecticidal concentrations, Fluralaner provides complete control over egg laying, larval development, and flea reproduction. Oral treatment of dogs with Fluralaner is highly effective in eliminating fleas in simulated flea-infested home environments[1]. After a single oral administration of Bravecto chewable tablets, the number of mites in skin scrapings decreased by 99.8% on day 28 and by 100% on days 56 and 84. A marked reduction appears in erythema, skin, stones and scales. Dogs treated with Bravectco.
